A few weeks ago I was playing Fifa 14 on the PS4, and if I tend to push around the edges of the thumbsticks and I noticed the stick beginning to tear at the bottom left of the stick. Pretty ridiculous since i've not been on my PS4 alot considering the past month or so and even then the coating on the sticks should last more than a few months! They look like this, you can find loads of pics of them around:
Anyhow Sony wont cover this as it's classed as wear and tear, yet theres COUNTLESS threads with people having the same issue. The sticks weren't made to last. My Xbox 360 sticks are as perfect as the day I bought the controller years ago and it's had a lot more use than my DS4.
Anyhow, i've found a solution. I was able to contact Amazon to get a replacement controller which was fine, but for those who can't give these a look from an eBayer assecure_b2b
well I read about the issue several times before mines started wearing. I didn't think it was a big problem at first, and most likely a few isolated issues but it's not until it happens to you... you realise it's an issue. I guess just be careful?
An amazon support rep was able to help me get a new controller as compensation... got to love Amazon support. That's why I will be buying more from Amazon in the future.
Maybe its some type of substance on your fingers that might be causing the wear down? I could be wrong but if this is happening to a certain amount of people, then it would be from type of chemical or substance that might react to the thumb stick's material.
